Alex Johnson, DC

Dear Albuquerque Community,

I am excited to introduce myself as the new owner and lead practitioner of the Functional Medicine Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico. My name is Dr. Alex Johnson, and I am a chiropractor with a deep passion for functional medicine and helping patients achieve optimal health and wellness. As a proud graduate of La Cueva High School, I am thrilled to return to my hometown and serve the community that has given me so much.

I received my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Parker University in 2018, along with two bachelor's degrees in Anatomy and Health and Wellness Systems Management. Additionally, I have completed extensive training and earned my certification in functional medicine through Functional Medicine University.

Functional medicine is a patient-centered, science-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of chronic health issues, rather than merely treating symptoms. By considering each patient's unique genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors, we develop personalized treatment plans that promote long-term health and vitality.

My journey into functional medicine was a personal one. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) years ago, I experienced firsthand the limitations of conventional medicine in managing chronic conditions. Through functional medicine, I discovered a path to successfully manage my MS symptoms and reclaim my health. This experience has given me a unique perspective on the challenges faced by those with chronic illnesses and has strengthened my commitment to helping others achieve optimal wellness.

At the Functional Medicine Center of Albuquerque, we offer a range of services designed to support your health, including functional medicine counseling, chiropractic care, nutritional counseling, supplement sales, and myofascial therapy. Our practice also utilizes various testing methods, such as functional medicine testing, genetic testing, and blood testing, to gain a comprehensive understanding of your health and develop targeted treatment plans.

In the coming months, I will be working closely with Dr. Redd to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the high-quality care you have come to expect. I am committed to collaborating with other healthcare providers in the area, including medical professionals, chiropractors, and other therapists, to provide comprehensive and integrated care for our patients.

As a long-time practitioner of meditation, I understand the profound impact it can have on reducing stress and promoting overall well-being. I look forward to exploring ways to integrate stress-reduction techniques into our practice to support your holistic health journey.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about how functional medicine can benefit your health, please visit our website or contact our office. We are here to support you every step of the way.

I look forward to meeting you and being your partner in health.

Warmly,
Alex Johnson DC

Celina Henderson, MSN, RN, IIN Health Coach

My name is Celina Henderson, and I am a registered nurse with more than 21 years of experience, deeply passionate about holistic health and wellness. I am honored to join Dr. Johnson as a Functional Medicine Nurse at the Functional Medicine Center of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I began my nursing career in 2004 after earning my associate degree in nursing from Collin County Community College. Driven by a love for learning and a desire to provide the best possible care, I later completed both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing through Purdue Global University. In addition, my passion for whole-body health inspired me to pursue certification as a Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

My journey into functional medicine is personal. For more than a decade, I struggled with severe IBS-D, a condition that became so debilitating I was unable to leave my home for two years. Despite countless medical appointments, extensive testing, and even a bone marrow biopsy, I found no relief—until functional medicine gave me my life back. This experience fuels my commitment to helping others reclaim their health, especially those who feel unheard or hopeless after years of searching for answers.

Outside of my professional life, I am blessed to be married to my “cowboy.” Together, we share a blended family of six adult daughters and four wonderful grandchildren. I enjoy spending time outdoors—whether fishing, gardening, working on projects with my husband, or simply soaking up nature. I also love music, family gatherings, and the occasional binge-worthy show.

One of my guiding principles in health and wellness comes from Hippocrates:
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”

I am excited to walk alongside you on your journey toward better health and lasting wellness.
